Facebook introduced its live streaming feature back in 2015 but in recent times, it has become the monster that no one including Mark Zuckerberg could control. Rolling out a great feature was a great achievement for Facebook but a number of incidents have shed light on the fact that it is turning into a monster that is affecting the fabric of the society.
Be it the live stream of a father killing an infant or a terrorist killing innocent people in NZ, Facebook has received negative feedback and people are questioning its existence. In addition to it, people are using Facebook live stream to live to stream their suicide videos and other assaults which has raised questions on the performance of the FB authorities to control and manage violence. Even though various violent footages have been removed by the concerned authorities but the scale and reach of live streaming videos are still questionable.
Experts feel that users are setting trends on how to live stream and what to live stream which is a dangerous dimension to the whole thing. From demonstrating tutorials to live streaming massacres full of blood and gore, Facebook’s ‘live stream is changing the world but in ways that were not needed.
